Flagship DPIIT & Startup India Programs

Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS)

Disburses up to ₹20 lakh in grants for validation and prototyping, plus up to ₹50 lakh in debt or convertible debentures for commercialization. Funding is routed directly through recognized partner incubators across India.

Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS)

Managed by SIDBI, this initiative commits capital to SEBI-registered Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs/VCs) rather than funding startups directly. Participating venture funds then deploy equity investments into high-growth, innovative Indian startups.

Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups (CGSS)

Provides credit guarantee cover to scheduled commercial banks and NBFCs for collateral-free loans up to ₹10 crore. It helps DPIIT-recognized ventures secure working capital and venture debt without pledging personal or fixed assets.

Tech & Digital Schemes (MeitY)

SAMRIDH Scheme

Pairs early-stage software and product startups with accredited accelerators, offering matched equity funding up to ₹40 lakh. Startups also receive intensive mentorship, customer acquisition pipelines, and investor demo day access.

TIDE 2.0 (Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs)

Offers seed grants (typically up to ₹7 lakh) alongside structured incubation support via academic and research hubs. It targets early-stage tech ventures building solutions in AI, IoT, blockchain, and cybersecurity.

CHUNAUTI / Next Generation Incubation Scheme (NGIS)

Run via the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) to foster software product innovation, specifically in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Selected startups receive seed grants up to ₹25 lakh, cloud infrastructure credits, and free co-working space.

NIDHI Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (NIDHI-EIR)

Grants an aspiring tech entrepreneur a monthly fellowship of up to ₹30,000 for up to 12 months to cover living expenses. It enables founders to focus full-time on validating technologies and refining business models without immediate financial distress.

Sector-Specific Grants & Programs

BIRAC Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG)

Provides non-dilutive grants-in-aid of up to ₹50 lakh for medical devices, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and industrial biotech concepts. It helps scientists and bio-entrepreneurs establish proof of concept within an 18-month timeline.

Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX)

Awards grants-in-aid up to ₹1.5 crore (and up to ₹25 crore under the ADITI initiative) to solve explicit operational challenges set by the Indian Armed Forces. Winning ventures secure direct prototype development contracts with potential fast-track defence procurement.

DRDO Technology Development Fund (TDF)

Offers up to ₹50 crore in financial assistance (covering up to 90% of total project costs) for indigenous design of defence equipment. It partners MSMEs and startups directly with DRDO laboratories to replace imported defence hardware.
