On Thursday, 29 December 2022, I had a short visit to “Inchathotty”, a place with beautiful “Periyar River” and hanging bridge. You can also go for Kayaking in the river, have fun all day.

“Inchathotty” is about 8 KM from Neriamangalam town. At present there are few buses available in this route for commuters. You can walk from “Neriamangalam ” to “Inchathotty” amidst a thick forest. It is a sparsely populated area and you may se only few people on the route. Most of them are farmers.

To travel to “Inchathotty”, frequent autorickshaws are available. The soft trek through the middle of the forest is a wonderful experience. Here are some photos and videos I have taken. Have a look.

There are lots of tall trees and wild flowers en route from Neriamangalam to Inchathotty. I have taken few pictures of the same, have a look. You can see lots of farmers here, they cultivate spices like black pepper, cardamom. There are many natural rubber plantations also here. The scenic view of the place is amazing. Crazy football fans have placed flex boards of Argentina, Brazil, Portugal teams everywhere.

The view while travelling to “Inchathotty” is breath-taking. I reached there by an autorickshaw. The road ends near the hanging bridge. The view from there is really fantastic. The river looks calm and blue in the noon. I saw many people in the river enjoying rowing kayaks, You can also do the same. The purpose of writing this blog along with photos of videos is to give the reader a clear idea on how this place looks like.

You need to stay at this place for a day or two and enjoy the place thoroughly. You can go for soft trek along the road. Here are some more photos of the place.

Just before you enter the “Neriamangalam” bridge , you find a little shop run by Mrs.Omana, that sells snakcs, tea, coffee etc. You can also get pure honey from here. I had tea and snacks from here. Tender coconut was available when I reached there, it costs Rs.50/

Note: I have tried my level best to give a rough idea about “Inchathotty” in the best possible manner. You need to cross over the bridge to enter Idukki District. The side before you cross is Eranakulam Disrict.

2.Kanjiraveli

Both are wonderful places. The old bridge will son be demolished and new one will be built. The construction is about to begin soon. Beware that this road has heavy traffic flow. Please cross the roads with atmost care while taking photos and videos.

I found a very good resort for Tourists to stay at Kanjiraveli, It is called Coconut Valley.
